I would concur with Nik's experience. We have two children in this center now. Our daughter started when she was 6 months and is now 3.5 and our son is 9 months and has been attending since he was 3 months old. We have had wonderful experiences with both of our children's teachers. Our daughter asks to go even on the weekends. My husband is a teacher and could have her with him over the summer but she likes it so much we didn't want to pull her out. I have never once heard a single conversation about money. This center is priced competitively for the Portsmouth area and provides all food which is a huge help - they can even get my daughter to eat couscous! Their open door policy means I can stop in anytime and on the rare occasion that I have a concern that I need addressed, I am met with nothing but flexible and committed professional attitudes. All daycare is costly, but the peace of mind in knowing that my children are well cared for and enjoying their environment is well worth it to us.

Thank you Ashleigh! Though I respect everyone's feelings, I am a bit taken aback by that review. Before joining the GBK team I was so nervous! Taking my kids from a center I ran that they absolutely loved. My first child was 3 and my second was just 1, still nursing and I felt so guilty that they had to go to a new school! In just over two years, I am amazed everyday by the teachers at all our locations. Early childhood, especially in the nonprofit sector, is known for its extremely high overhead and low teaching wages. Most of these teacher have associates, bachelors & masters and could easily get paid so much more in another field, but they choose early childhood education. There is a saying in this field, family's can't afford to pay & teachers can't afford to stay. No teacher gets into this field for the money but for the true passion for teaching young children in the most important years of their lives. People may call me biased but no matter what I owe so much to these teachers that everyday help my two girls learn & grow. In a day and age where two parents must work to help support their family I thank my girls teachers for making their lives bright, warm & educational while I am able to contribute to supporting our household. I'm their mom, but they say it takes a village.... I can never repay this village... they will never truly know how much they mean to my husband & I.

They saw my enormous stack of money and reached out to grab it. I nearly had time to get the cash pile away from them! With this my wife became distraught as they couldn’t keep their eyes off of our cash pile and on our lovely, perfect children. Against my better judgement I enrolled them anyways. My kids came home essentially looking like they just explored a jungle. Tommy even had snake bites and susans arm was dislocated from her socket. After now reading the previous reviews I realized I’ve enrolled my children in a serial dislocAtors lair. I’ll be calling my nanny back full time! -Doc Gumby

My friend recently had her child here and all they talk about is money. These people are awful! All they care about is money money money! The worst part is they do it in front of the kids and other parents. People this stingy shouldn't be around our children. If you want people that care about your children more than your payment then DO NOT GO HERE!

My wife and I have been nothing but impressed with GBK since enrolling our son there almost 4 years ago. They take care of both of our kids during the day, and I have always found their staff to be warm and approachable. GBK is night and day better than the daycare we had for our son in Boston, and costs less than half as much. Another reviewer indicated that all the staff talk about is money. I'm not sure where she got that impression, as I have never ONCE heard the staff talk about money except when they send out the yearly rate adjustment. I'd like to think that I am a bit of an authority on that subject, as my son was the second student at the Pease center and I've had multiple daily conversations with GBK's staff since the day he was enrolled. In any event, OF COURSE A DAYCARE CARES ABOUT MONEY, its a business! If you want daycare that doesn't care about money, find a church run program (who will say they don't care about money, while they secretly do). But if you want a daycare that will give your kids excellent care, provide very strong early childhood education (my son reads at age 4), provides in house food service/laundry, etc. you won't find a better option than GBK. Also, if anyone has questions about GBK and wants to discuss them with a parent with two kids in their program, please call their Pease center and ask them to give you my number. I would be more than happy to speak with you.
