They are unprofessional and dishonest. They provided me with incorrect information about the item. I bought the item based on that incorrect information and it turned out to be a worthless reprint instead of an original print. They repeatedly promised to return my money but have not done so. Instead, they are threatening to smear my business reputation. I filed a BBB complaint and will be suing if it comes to that. UPDATE: it took more than a month and multiple complaints to BBB and Live Auctioneers association to get the refund. Gatsby's Auction have not withdrawn their threat to \make certain that other auction houses on Live Auctioneers are aware of you and your buying practices\ (quote from their message). There is absolutely nothing wrong with my buying practices (as the very fact of the refund confirms) so my rating stands.

I bought a set of twelve relatively expensive Minton soup bowls. When they arrived, one of them had an old, stained crack in the bowl which caused the bowl to leak and made it useless. The crack had obviously been there a long time. Great Gatsby's only response was to check with their shipper.

I have been a customer of Great Gatsby’s for roughly 15 years. I love strolling through GG’s huge facility and examining hundreds of unique and exquisite items that will be up for sale and being able to speak to members of GG’s knowledgeable staff about the background and provenance of the items. The auctions themselves are terrific and exciting. And the GG staff knows how to make the experience comfortable and convenient—with food and beverages on site. I have a small collection of Oriental rugs that I purchased at GG, and I love them all. I have also sold items through GG. They are helpful, professional and convenient on the sell-side as well. And every once in a while, I will get a check in the mail out of the blue. Always a welcome surprise.
