In order to achieve our mission of promoting equity in health and health care through professional development with an emphasis on workforce development, Centennial Area Health Education Center (CAHEC) provides programs based on health education, health careers programs based on health education, health careers exploration and health care services. We advocate for public policies, provide individuals and community groups with opportunities to learn about health care in ways that promote healthy lifestyle changes. We also promote interest in and knowledge of the healthcare field among elementary, middle, high school and college students. We work cooperatively with community health and academic organizations to create programs that train students to work in health care professions that focus on the under-served populations. CAHEC helps to recruit and increase the representation of ethnic and racial minorities in the health care professions. We try to increase access to quality primary and preventive health care for our Northern Colorado rural areas. We link healthcare providers and service agencies on collaborative initiatives to address identified needs.
