My \first\ day at the Academy all I did was observe. I sat in a chair and for 2 hours I watched the class, the drills and people rolling. I remember thinking in the beginning \Yeah I could never do this. It's not for me at all.\ but as the 2 hours went by, I got more and more comfortable and more intrigued and by the end of class I was ready to come back and actually participate. The initial thought was how overwhelming it all was but the atmosphere at FightWorks is unlike a lot of places I've been to. There is a sense of comfort and familiarity, as odd as that may sound. I remember overhearing a lot of people after class talking about each other's families and how everyone was doing and I realized that I wanted that. It's been 5 months and I can say I feel like I'm a part of something now. The Instructors and everyone at the Academy are like family and for once in my life, I enjoy going to a class. (I mean how many times have you signed up for a gym membership and after a month, never went back...I'm guilty of that!) It's also really nice that there are other females I can partner up with in drills and rolls, but the men are also amazing at making me feel comfortable and are respectful. I never once felt judged for my lack of endurance or the fact that I couldn't do a simple forward roll! When YOU are ready, the time will come and you will start to improve. One day at a time is all it takes.

The instructors are patient and kind. Their love for jiu-jitsu shines whether teaching a class or rolling during open mat. It's remarkable how gentle high belts are with the lower belts. I always leave class impressed with the quality of the instructors and high belts. FightWorks is one big happy family.

I dropped in for classes and was amazed with how welcoming all the coaches and students were. Loved the facility as well, spacious and clean. The coaching was top notch with clear instructions, friendly coaches, great emphasis on details! I absolutely loved training at Fightworks Academy, I recommend everyone in the Greenville, SC area to visit the gym!

What a gem of a place! Got to train here for the first time with a buddy of mine last Thursday and I had an absolute blast, the trainers were very respectful of everyone and were great with explaining the details of everything they were teaching. As someone who never had done Jiujitsu in my case I was impressed that no one had given me a odd look, in fact the other members stepped in to help along with the trainers. This is a well run facility and I am excited to return soon!
