Everybody from the staff is very nice and friendly. My husband and I signed up for swim lessons in January and our instructor Karen was the best! It's not easy to learn how to swim as an adult but she was very good at explaining all the techniques and helping us gain confidence. The other swim instructor Hilary also gives us some great tips. After the swim lessons, we started going swimming on our own to practice and keep in shape. They recently changed the lockers which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable.

I have only been to this YMCA as a visitor, when my children's swim team competed against their swim team. Here's what I can say as a visitor: - Small parking lot, and on-street parking seems disallowed. Overflow parking is supposed to be at some nearby park within walking distance. - Pool seems meant for teams, workouts, lessons, and laps. It's not a pool built for play and leisure swim. It's long and narrow, with a diving end and a shallow end. However, I don't know this Y's schedule, so there may be time when there is leisurely swimming/play allowed and encouraged. - Limited bleacher space, and even more severely limited deck space. When two teams are competing there is precious little room for parent spectators, and the competitors are bull-penned in other areas such as the gym. (Read: during swim meets, the gym is closed and one or more other areas are closed.) - The gym and equipment rooms seem to have equipment in good shape. - I have not been in the locker rooms. Since the Y as a whole seems well maintained and clean, I assume the locker rooms are as well. - I did not see a bike rack and I do not know how convenient this Y is to access by RIPTA.
