We came while in MI on vacation. It just happened to open on the last day we were in Traverse City. I was so excited to take my 2.5yo but when we pulled in I was very skeptical and kind of disappointed at how small it was, esp at 9/adult. I do think it's very over priced, but it did end up being fun even though the whole building was about 600-700sq ft total. It was like 40 so most of the butterflies were not flying around. Definitely go when it's warmer so you at least have a chance of one landing on you. We were also told that later in the season they have closer to 600 butterflies in the small room, there were about 300 for us but I think we only saw maybe 50. The bugs were interesting but in very small cages so if a lot of people are there it might take a while for everyone to see them. They will get some out for you if you ask. We got to hold them too, which was fun. At first we were one of 2 families there and it was the first day they were open so maybe they were just really excited, but one of the employees was always right with us telling us about the bugs. It was nice when we had a question but it would have also been nice to just look at them with my son. Over all it was a good experience, you can stay as long as you want and go back to whichever exhibit you want as many times as you want. For the price though, I would not go back, esp if you have a little one who won't want to stay for even an hour.

A great family stop. Very knowledgeable staff who obviously care about the insects and \critters.\ Beautiful butterflies and many varieties of them. Worth an hour! Not a huge place, but it doesn't have to be.

I was extremely happy after visiting. The staff was very nice, and also very educated on the insects. Each and every living thing was well cared for and loved. My 8 year old daughter and I went together and she was thrilled! I highly recommend checking out GT Butterfly House & Bug Zoo!

This place is a diamond in the rough. It seems expensive but if you ask the staff questions and take your time to enjoy the butterflies fluttering and watch all the bugs, it's worth the price. I'd go again when we are in town! I may have shared a lot of pictures but it's better in person!!!!

This was awesome! I am so happy we were able to stop on the way home. It is 9 for adults. Don't let the small building deter you. The staff there are so friendly, knowledgeable and funny. Stacey and Cyndie were amazing to us. They were able to answer any question my buggie loving hubby could ask. The experience was so special and memorable. Will be stopping here again for next anniversary!
