I had a terrible experience with Jori Riske (2011-2012), but I will save that review for her own business/page since she left Gurnee Counseling Center in 2013. However, I was a part of an adolescent girls group at Gurnee Counseling Center and we went on a field trip. During this trip, a boy kissed me, which I did not like or ask for. It's a pretty traumatic deal when you're an adolescent and you just got out of an abusive relationship. They made him write an apology letter, but there was nothing they did to prevent the situation; instead, I was told I provoked the situation and essentially asked for it. I did speak with Gurnee Counseling Center and they denied that there was a group like this back when I was there.

I called to make an appointment, it took me a few days to work up the courage to do it. I asked to make an appointment and the receptionist asked if I had insurance, I said yes but I wasn't sure how much it would cover. I was willing to pay the difference but we never even got that far. She took my name and number and said she would have to call me back. Never even asked what kind of services I was looking for. Still waiting to hear back hours later. I'm very disappointed, I will not bother going here.

I had one session and I had a family emergency and needed to reschedule my next appointment. I was told I would receive a call back from the therapist to reschedule.. let’s say it’s been about six weeks now and I still haven’t been reschedule for my THERAPY appointment. Soooooo disappointed.

Cannot say anything but good things. The staff is friendly and the counselors are loving and really care. I would recommend them to anyone. You never feel alone while going here.
