This is a public parking lot for canoeists, kayakers and rafters who wish to paddle the three-mile whitewater run on the Sacandaga River from Stewart's Dam to the river's confluence with the Hudson River. This river section can be run with natural flow in the spring only. In the summer, regular dam releases are scheduled. The section starts with a Class 2-3 rock garden, followed by a mile-long flat section, and finishes with a Class 2-3 set of standing waves. The takeout is at the Sacandaga Outdoor Center on the left bank just before the confluence. To get to the river, you'll need to park in the lot and carry your boat and gear several hundred yards along a trail. There are no toilets, picnic tables or other amenities at the Stewart Dam put-in, but there are at the Sacandaga Outdoor Center take-out.
