This dam is about 30 minutes off the I-85 exit on the Georgia-South Carolina border. The Georgia side parking lot has a pier and campground area. So you get to approach the dam from below. This gives you a good view of the flow from the powerplant. The parking lot on the South Carolina side lets you climb up on to the top of the dam and gives you a view of the reservoir and also the downstream flow of Savannah river.

We were very impressed with the dam. The parking was great, walking along the top was very cool. The views of the lake and the river are amazing. This is a very cool spot. Take a walk, walk your dog, or just hang out, this is a dam cool spot!
Great place to walk on the dam watching the picturesque view of Hartwell reservoir!
