I initially started WhoaShop to create household gifts for my friends and family out of wood, that they would normally buy in a store. My ambition has since expanded into the public market, making custom creations and building something new every day. I'm always looking to add to my skill set and hone my craft, because it's something I'm truly passionate about. I am a web developer at PayPal, so I sit at a desk and write computer code all day. Once I'm home, though, I want to put away the electronics that consume us all, and get my hands covered in sawdust and glue while making something beautiful. Some products I build because they are trendy and will draw people's attention, but the products I love to build the most are the products that require a craftsmanship that has become a memory to most, something not mass produced or manufactured with cheap materials. If I see an attractive item in a magazine or store display that I believe I could create myself, I will go home, imagine it's construction, and begin to build it from raw wood in my shop. Many of my projects are built with lumber that I have had milled on my property, and I've stacked and dried over the course of months and years, which makes each piece very special to me. Walnut, Maple, Cherry, Purple Heart, Mahogany, Sapele, and Oak are my favorite species of wood to use, each with their own intricacies. Woodworking is an outlet that allows me to image, plan, and concentrate on something until it's complete. The best part of many projects is the delivery to a client who truly respects the amount of work and care went into its construction, and appreciates the quality of having something that is one-of-a-kind.
