The Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St. Paul is a historic landmark in Hempstead. In addition to having the largest collection of Byzantine mosaics in the western hemisphere, installed by master mosaist Bruno Salvatore over a 20 year period, it is the spiritual home of more than 800 faithful Eastern Orthodox families. The cathedrals focus is on making our Orthodox faith an integral part of our families and ourselves as individuals. The community of St. Paul's is truly an Orthodox family.

Beautiful church. There is a wonderful sense of reverence when you enter this Holy place. The perfect spot for prayer that is open during weekdays and a schedule of weekend public prayer services. You must be Greek ortho to receive communion so refrain if you aren't. Call ahead first. Miracle of the tearing icon is located to the left of the steps of the altar. Nearby is a miraculous statue of Our Lady of Sorrow at the Polish Catholic church just a few miles from here that continues to exhude oil at st ladislaus hempstead ny.

The first time I attended St. Paul's was at their yearly festival. I enjoyed the food, loved the warmth of the people and how beautiful the church is. Recently I moved into the neighborhood & have begun attending the services. Walking into St. Paul's feels much like going home because the church reflects the love and care the Parishioners have for it. As a convert to the Orthodox faith it is important for me to feel I am truly welcomed when I walk into a church of my faith and at St. Paul's I wholeheartedly do. I thank our most loved St. Paul for guiding me into his loving arms and revealing what a hidden jewel his community in Hempstead is.
