I highly recommend Ziran! I’ve been studying with Thomas for the past few months, and he has been a great instructor, very patient and generous in teaching an absolute beginner with zero martial arts experience like me. He is really good at catering to students’ concerns and needs, and making sure they’re able to push past their limits while also keeping the sessions lighthearted and fun. He really cares for his students’ progress, and it shows in his teaching!

I started classes a few months ago. The staff are very kind, patient and understanding. They are extremely knowledgeable and I've never felt judged for being overweight. I would encourage anyone to attend either of their classes if you are interested in tai chi or kung fu. Its a great experience with great people.

I am pleased to recommend Ziran Martial Arts. Three years ago, at age 38, I enrolled with the intention of better managing joint pain and stress. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made at this life stage. I’ve rediscovered the joy and benefits of learning martial arts (attending taijiquan class and then also learning some gungfu and weapons), and have made new friends and acquaintances in the process. There’s a lot more to learning taijiquan than is readily apparent. There are multiple levels of subtleties and applications, and biomechanical and theoretical principles to understand and synthesize. The journey toward mastery is long, but worthwhile and enjoyable. At ZMA, this is especially true because of who is in the school and how it’s run. Sifu Seth Davis and his associate, Laoshi Thomas Posey, are dedicated and skilled both in the subject matter and in teaching it to virtually all age, experience, and ability levels. They’re good practitioners, always open to questions and sharing their knowledge, and student development is a top priority. In all classes, from Seth, Tom, senior assistants to beginners, the approach is collaborative, supportive, and with good humor. My classmates are pleasant to work with, and they’re smart, interesting people. We have fun and even have a few social occasions throughout the year. The curriculum is broad, and you can customize your emphasis based on your goals. I’m not blessed with much athletic ability at all but have been able to learn plenty so far, and have thoroughly enjoyed doing so. I plan to continue my studies here for a long time.

Our son has been at Ziran for six months, & we can't say enough good things about it. Seth & Thomas are fantastic teachers -- they both have a good sense for when to push the kids & when to let them be. When disciplinary issues come up, they are firm but kind -- unlike the unduly punitive approach I've seen at another local school. Thomas is a great motivator, & Seth excels at breaking down difficult moves into smaller parts so that the kids understand them. Highly recommended!
