First time up Mauna Kea. Unbelievable vistas and views...Not to mention frigid cold and snow. Little oxygen at almost 14,000 ft. The best observatories in the world are there and tons of people and snowboarding. I had trouble breathing that high up. Take plenty of clothes. Stunning views though. Not good for smokers or people who need oxygen. The air is very thin. What is surprising is you're ice cold and in less than an hour you can swim in the beautiful blue waters of the South Pacific. Also: you must have a 4-wheel drive truck or SUV.

I guess many visitors passing by this Observatory, as it is last one if you driving around on clock vise direction. However it is interesting to watch how those smaller antennas moving sincronise together.

Worth the effort, left me breathless. Make sure you stop at the Visitor center before you go up.

It was snowing up there. Fantastic view of Pacific ocean. High altitude not much o2 so move slowly. Lots of observatories, nerd moment. Locals filling pick ups with snow to bring ro beach for snowball fight. Easy on brakes going down mountain, don't let it get away from you
