My husband and I planned a day trip to the museum. NO WHERE on the website does it say Appointment Only. We call to make an appointment and the person on the phone was very dismissive. When someone came to the door, we asked about an appointment to see the museum. They said there was already a tour going on. The next one is in an hour. So we inquired about making an appointment for that time slot. Again, EXTREMELY dismissive. Why did you say there was another tour if you don’t want people visiting the museum. He went on and on about this person is leaving soon, then so-and-so is leaving in an hour. He has rehab so.....again why did you bring it up. Never in my life have I encountered museum staff so passionately against visitors to their museum. 0/10. Likely never to bother ever trying to visit again. Can not dissuade you enough from ever visiting. Literally go anywhere else. You’ll have a more pleasant afternoon.

This is an excellent place for all ages! I have thoroughly enjoyed the time that I spent in this museum, and they even have a Junior Historian club that I highly recommend for kids that are still in school and want to learn about history. The club took several trips to Raleigh over the past years and visited many historical sites!
A nice museum that showcases local history quite well. I would definitely reconmend checking out this place.
My wife and I decided to spend a bit of time at the museum since we had nothing else going on one weekend. We were completely blown away. We spent 2 hours there and only got halfway through the top floor. There is just sooo much to see. Very knowledgeable staff! We had to leave to go eat lunch but we can’t wait to go back
Great place to spend some time learning about our area! Great crew of dedicated history nerds!
