A beautiful, easy-access spot perfect for any season. It's currently free to get into and offers some great ice-covered views during the winter months.

Free right now. Easy in and out. No hot dogs during the winter. Nice views. Nice pier. Some people are fishing. Nice fish. Good swimming. The only complaint is Michigan doesn’t have enough sun .

We camped in an RV at the state park and enjoyed our time here. When you enter the campground there are sites on the left, and sites on the right. The ones when you turn left have t Fewer trees and less privacy, if you can, book sites on the right side of the main entrance, further from the beach. Some of these sites were beautiful and private. The facilities were fine, they were clean and had hot water. Our site did not have a water hookup. There is a nice little hike through the woods, we saw a mother deer and her two fawns, as well as a pair of pileated woodpeckers. There is a boardwalk tower that has a nice view of the beach and lighthouse. The beach was 1.2 miles away... we were able to bike there with our 4 and 6 year old with very few problems. The beach is nice but the water was stunningly cold, even in August. The campground has a park the kids enjoyed. While we were there everyone was respectful and quiet at night.

Gorgeous state park with dunes, beaches, hiking and leisure. Great spot to take pictures of Big Red Lighthouse at sunset or with sailboats passing on Macatawa River. Get the State Parks License tab at SOS when you renew your plates for 12 to avoid the extra convenience fee of 5. Out of state visitors can pay 9 for a day pass.

Awesome beach to visit any time of year!! Bathrooms, changing area, small gift shop & snack shop available -- (except in off season) State park sticker required during busy times. Booth closed in off hours/ off season. Pictures from October 28, 20. Beautiful with high waves!
