Peaceful, tranquil. You can feel the energy of the slaves when near the slave cabin. I pray for their eternal peace after whatever atrocities they may have had to endure while in bondage here.

Sotterley is a historic home on the banks of the Patuxent River. It is a National Historic Landmark dating to 1703. Grounds open year round, tours from May to October. Beautiful garden and extensive woodland trails. Thought provoking interpretation of the era of slavery and it's aftermath. Fully restored slave cabin from the 1830s.
I'm sure its a much better experience when we're not in the middle of a pandemic. It was nice from the little we were able to see. We couldn't go into the main house at all, just looked through the windows.
