Over the course of the afternoon we started with a grilled cheese and tomato soup from Cowgirl Creamery, then had soft serve from Gott's, and finally a latte from Blue Bottle. While we were there we bought some soap for my mom from a little gift shop, a postcard for Jordan's family from Book Passage (the small bookstore). If that's not enough for you, there's also a mushroom vendor, bakeries, chocolates, fruits, tea, bread, dumplings, burgers, and more. There's a little of everything, and it's all inside the ferry building, so you can watch the timetable of ferries changing throughout the day, and sit on the back patio right on the bay. Definitely a must-see if you're in the area. It's a perfect afternoon activity for tourists and locals alike.
