Ben made our trip to Big Island AWESOME! Three people in my family went training with Ben...we all reached new "personal bests" ranging from 15 meters to 40 meters. A few days later, Ben took our family of four out spearfishing. He took us to great places ranging in depth so that everyone in my family had a great time. Ben is an excellent no nonsense teacher. I'm planning to train with him again.

Learning from Ben was an incredible experience that allowed me to increase my ability, knowledge and confidence around the sport. I cannot wait to get back into the water with him! I started with a lot of nervousness and struggled to make a 10m dive and more than doubled my depth within two days. I felt as though I was able to experience calm at depth and heard the whales sing!

Cool Dude. Skilled Freediver. Great Instructor. I met Ben for 3 mornings of freedive coaching. I gained a better understanding of equalization, added 13 meters to my PB depth and took home some new techniques to add to my training toolbox. Thanks Ben. Your a Pro.

Ben is an excellent freediver and a patient teacher. He's got a clean boat and good gear. I will be diving with him again

My 3 days were packed with fun, value, and practical knowledge! About 6 months ago I took an intro to freediving course with another excellent outfit, but I knew that I'd want to go to someone who literally lives and breathes this stuff for my next workshop opportunity. After a little searching, Ben of Freedive Hawaii definitely stuck out as someone I wanted to learn from, and after taking his 3 day class, I think I was right. I received more value than I expected I would, in areas that were unexpected as well. Each morning we did a combination of mental tips, breathing skills, yoga stretches to help relaxation and bigger breath holds. I joked that we could have been done for the day after the yoga because I felt so great afterward. One of those unexpected perks that you'll just have to experience in person was Ben's cueing of breathing into a stretch. Using his techniques, I found a way to dramatically improve the movement in my neck, an area that has been tight for years! I liked that he gave checklists of techniques to help us remember them better. By the time I got in the water I felt like they were second nature. In the water, Ben and Hans did a fantastic job of demonstrating and explaining the different elements that we were about to practice. I felt safe, and I could that my peers in class did as well. The icing on the cake was something that Ben didn't necessarily have control over, but you can experience if you dive with him was... the whales singing to me. There was something magical about being 10, 15, 20 meters down, remembering to relax, and then hearing the whale songs with stunning clarity. I will remember these 3 days with gratitude, and I will take what I learned to continue working on my skills and breath hold capacity. Thanks!

I did a reef dive and blue water dive with Ben. He really went above and beyond setting up the best opportunity for fish, getting us out early and picking locations based on his extensive knowledge of Maui conditions. We were able to land a few reef species, including various trevallies as well as Mahi and Ono (Wahoo). If you're an experienced spearo, look no further!

Went out last week with Ben for a shore dive spearfishing adventure. Ben's local knowledge and diving/spearing expertise is of the highest caliber for sure. After considering other spearfishing guide companies on the island I can't express how glad I am that I went with Freedive Hawaii. If you want to come to Maui and do any REAL diving/spearing for yourself, I highly recommend contacting Ben at Freedive Hawaii. You won't regret it!

This has been a bucket list activity for me for at least four years. I finally signed up and so glad I did! Sitting with Ben and listening to him explain freediving before hitting the water was like listening to a doctor or a scientist explaining their specialty! We were well prepared before going on the boat and out to the water! I teaching surfing and kiting boarding for a living. All the instruction was very clear and thorough. I admit I was real nervous/excited. His assistant Hans was great helping us with our first dives! Didn't take long before I was further down in the ocean than I have ever been while listening to whales singing, seeing fish swimming, and I was in a peaceful place! Day 2 Ben got me swimming down on my own. We were going for 25 meters! I cam up a little shore but got close! approx 70 feet! I held my breath comfortably way longer than ever and went way deeper than I ever have and I will continue training with Ben!
