So definitely listen to the audio guides they are available thought QR codes on signs and play off a website, no app or download needed like some places. And FREE! Bring a reusable water bottle!!! They have taps to refill and they don't sell bottled water or other single use plastic items . Water fountain are also closed because pandemic. I was definitely dehydrated by the time I left. If you are the kind of person who wants to see absolutely everything at a musaume you probably need to give yourself the entire day there. I was there for 3 hours and felt like I only saw maybe a 1/4, maybe a 1/6 of what that had to offer plus there was a building closed when I went that was getting ready for an exhibit. They also didn't offer any kind of food for sale at the moment, as far as I could see. Maybe they did in the past, maybe they will in the future but during the pandemic in April 2021 they didn't. I was extremely hungry by the time I was done so maybe have a restaurant planned or pack snacks it did look like there were spots to sit and eat on the grass but just no where to get food. It's definitely a really interesting really beautiful place to go like full of Hawaiian history. Definitely a place to make time for.

I'm a museum nerd. I loved the atmosphere of being in a building that is 132 years old. I absolutely loved how informative every description box was. I wish the Science Center was more interactive and the Planetarium was open, but... COVID. So what can you do? Overall, the displays were beautiful. The scaled-down solar system that is currently available is really cool too. Will definitely visit again.
It was a great time. Lots of cool things to read about. Lots of cool things for even the kids to look at. Was able to get a deeper upstanding and knowledge of the hawaiian culture. The only thing I wasn't fond of is that you have to pay for parking??? It's only 5 dollars. But we are already paying over 20 to get a ticket to see what's inside. Probably could park on the street. All and all it was definitely fun and entertaining.
So much to see and learn, beautifully presented. We spent 8 hours and would have liked at least that many more. What a rich, dynamic culture to explore. And this is the only place we can find such a collection. One hint: During COVID-19 food service is very limited. Be prepared.
Our family enjoyed visiting the museum and science center. The museum is absolutely beautiful and there is tons to see and experience. I think everyone who visits Oahu should take some time away from the beach to check out this gem.
Great way to learn about the history of the Hawaiian islands. Most interesting part for me was learning about the Hawaiian royal line that united and later modernized Hawaii. It is kind of out there if you're staying in Waikiki.
Fantastic museum ! Amazing artifacts, and information. Well done history of the people's of the islands. And a great section on the history of surfing with amazing video ! (And a cool photo op set) ! The doscent's were very helpful in answering all of our questions.
Bishop Museum is a very beautiful and peaceful museum... It is great for quiet reflection. I was often the only person on the entire floor and took my time with the exhibits. I like the room with all the paintings and the big open center gallery was very "Night at the Museum" cool. There was so much to take in that I know that I have to visit again. Expect a temperature check and masks are required. Social distancing wasn't really an issue because there were only a handful of people there when I went. It is a ghost town right now. I highly recommend it if you're a local like me and have never gone.
