We ate at Nu'uanu Okazuya pre-COVID-19. RESTAURANT: The restaurant is small, but has a parking lot next door and ample street parking. Inside the restaurant, it feels like you are at your Japanese grandmother's house. The counter, where you order, feels like the kitchen, the two tables feel like a dining room, and the area with a couch and television feels like a living room. It is the cutest little place, ever. SERVICE: The staff talks to everyone like long-term friends or family members. It makes you feel like you could just spend the day lounging there, eating and watching television. FOOD: We ordered the fried chicken, nishime, greenbean stirfry, and stuffed bittermelon. Everything tasted like a home-cooked meal! Every bite will leave your heart feeling warm and cared for.
