This Japanese restaurant has been around for years. Located on the 3rd. floor of the Royal Hawaiian Center almost in the middle, it offers an assortment of seating areas including some with a view. They offer a wide range of Japanese classics made and served in very traditional fashion. Lunch specials offer you the same great food of the evening, slightly reduced prices. If they have a special menu, it is usually a seasonal special and I recommend trying it for the experience as you won't see it again. It offers you a great tasting as a good price that normally would cost you a lot more if you attempted something similar through the regular menu. The food is all freshly prepared and elegantly presented in traditional and appropriate Japanese fashion. The service was very attentive and polite from start to finish. If you appreciate Japanese food and the traditions around it, I this is the place for you.

It's not often you find a place truly worthy of five stars. Suntory was perfect. Excellent food, excellent service, excellent setting, unbelievable prices. The salmon belly and collar was exquisite, perfectly cooked, a large portion, and ridiculously priced at 8 dollars. One of the best dining experiences I have had.

Ate here three times during my stay in Waikiki. It is the best sushi bar experience I have ever had. When you go in to the sushi bar area, you feel like you have been transported to Japan. Very nice birch wood everywhere. The fish is very fresh and they have a good variety. If you appreciate sushi and Japanese culture, this is the place to go. The staff and sushi chefs are the best and are very attentive. There is three sections to this restaurant and you must experience the sushi bar specifically. All three of my experiences were very consistent and wonderful. Very good sake selection as well. I cannot find anything negative to say about this place and I am very picky since I am a chef and a foodie. Best experiences of my whole trip. I have no idea how people have given this place bad ratings.

Went for lunch before the 2nd lockdown order in August twice in a week. The first time we ordered monthly special. Each dish was freshly prepared and tasted amazingly good. 5 star there. 2nd time was Teppanyaki. No performance involved like others, but all was good. I give 4 because of the garlic rice. It looked good while being cooked but it was pretty bland. It didn’t have any flavor of garlic or the egg maybe because of overpowering amount of salt. I am garlic rice critique... So I’d give 4.5. Good place to be to take care of Japanese food fix when the lockdown order is lifted.

Excellent traditional Teppan service and meals. We had the Lobster with Wagyu combination and a Lobster with Filet Mignon combination. Abolone, shrimp and scallop appetizers. Black sesame pudding with ice cream and Tempura ice cream with strawberry liquor. Sapporo and a Midori Melondrop. Covid complaint.

Awesome service. Friendly staff. The presentation of all the food are very nice. The flavor is authentic Japanese flavor with a little kick of Hawaiian flavor on one of the appetizer we had. This is one of our favorite Japanese restaurant.

This is my first review of restaurant in Hawaii. Terrible experience at front counter. There were three employees at the front counter when we first arrived. None of them greeting us (not even say hi and look at us). Three minutes passed, first employee just realized he had not greeted us yet - so he just say hi (yes, only say hi) and then he just ignored us and stayed focus on the computer again. However, once there was a Japanese customer asking them something, they immediately responded with a bright smile. After that another two employees repeatedly asked us the same question, how many persons and do you have any reservation? Ten minutes passed, the front counter just informed us we have to wait for 20 mins. We decided not to waste our valuable time with this terrible service and experience any longer - so we left the restaurant. But the worst thing was yet to come. The minute we were walking out from the restaurant door, another Japanese couples asked the front counter if there is any table for 2, they got the table right away, while we were told to wait for 20 mins. In sum, if you are Japanese, you will get first tier service. If you are American, you will get second tier service. However, if you are Asian (other than Japanese, you will get third tier service. Worst restaurant during my time in Hawaii in term of service. Note that my rating is not relevant or made based on their food at all - only the service and attitude of employees.

Highly recommend! If you want to experience Japanese style dining this the place to go. The sushi counter was amazing and Koji is was an awesome chef! I appreciated the traditional experience and the high quality fish. Karage was also great! Enjoyed some great Hakushu 18 and 12... miss it so much!
