Beautiful WW1 memorial. I hope they renovate this soon.

Sadly, I have to rate this place pretty low. Apparently this is a historic landmark AND a memorial to the veterans of Hawaii that served in the Great War. Its pretty much just boarded up now. The restrooms are functioning, but they're pretty unkempt. They're showers here too, but plan on showering with homeless and potentially some suspicious folks. If I had anything to say, it would be that a unique historical landmark like this can't be allowed to deteriorate any further. Im sure it was grand in its day, but this a prime example of what happens when a structure is not maintained. A few other notes: parking is horrendous (like most of Honolulu). Theres some free parking in front of the memorial, good luck trying to get a spot. Another great feature of Honolulu is the homeless, and they're no shortage of them here. The majority of them don't bother anyone, so tonme its more of an aesthetic thing. The bright side, lots of sunshine.

Beautiful landmark that should be saved for future generations. I’d welcome a world class addition to Waikiki Aquarium, including coral restoration in the pool. Also, a cafe and see-through walkways above the corals would be amazing. Tourists would pay 5 each all day long to walk around the edge of the pool and take selfies with the Waikiki backdrop.

It may look rundown, but it's actually quite a useful as a place to change clothes and for taking a shower after swimming or spending time on Waikiki Beach. There are restrooms, of course. It's actually an historical site where athletes for the mid-century international Pacific Games practiced. Once inside, take a look from the changing room out into the old Olympic-sized swimming pool, and you can imagine the swimming meet event described in the posted signage outside. If I recall correctly, Johnny Weismueller, who played Tarzan on early 30's and 40's Hollywood movies actually participated in the Hawaii Friendship Games, for which the Natatorium was built to commerate.

This odd structure that seems so out of place at Waikiki is a throw back to an era before WW2 before Oahu ultimately opened up to mass tourism. This was built near a few existing hotels to honor the veterens of the Great War of which we say WW1 today. Hence, it is "The War" Memorial. At the time it had a first class sea side swimming pool complex that has fallen into decay. I did notice that some renovation is currently underway.

Beautiful historic place , needs to be restored, but swimming on the side is great

This was so disappointing. This could be a seriously, beautiful place of remembrance or even a reflecting pool; but sadly this was the passing place of a monument. Closed and no longer active. Just withering away.

Cool to see if you're already there. Really cool building. We saw it while we were at the aquarium so we swung by and took a look. Public washrooms attached to it which is nice.
