Beautiful! I love hiking this area!

Our favorite short hike near Olympia. Trail is short and not challenging for young ones (just be careful for tree roots!). It is full of magic with glorious nursing logs with huge tree roots, most covered rocks, and rushing creeks which are perfect for dipping ones feet in.

Easy drive from Tacoma area. A true gem! Greenery will make you go nuts. Serene, picturesque. Walk the trail with the river by you. awesome. The place is green and wet. Little streams running through the trails when I visited.

Helpful rangers. Don't forget to have your kids participate in the Junior Ranger Program.

Staircase is our go to hike when we just want to get out for a little adventure for the day. We hike it a few times each year. It is a blast to swim in the slow pools and jump from the rocks! We swam in February but we had full wetsuits and had a great time. The ranger even let us borrow a throw rope Incase of emergency. Great location to get out and experience the Olympics!
