Wow! We had the hot and sour soup, the water boiled beef and the basil crispy chicken. What a combination. We drove an hour to get to Mala and it was definitely worth it. Luis was awesome. We didn't have to ask for a thing. We cannot wait to go back. Don't forget to order the jasmine tea!

I have been to the Bellaire location and the food cane out super fast. Sichuan so some dishes are spicier than others but they note it on the menu and the descriptions of each dish are spot on. Tonight family went to Westheimer location in Montrose. The interior is gorgeous and diners were spaced apart. Adept service - water glasses were refilled without asking and servers stopped by a few times to ask if we needed anything. Tried a couple new things, the dumplings in red oil (not spicy) and eggplant and green beans stir fried with basil. Also 2 favorites: boiled water fish which is poached in a super spicy broth and spicy crispy chicken. The fried chicken was only slightly spicy as long as you avoid the ton of red chilies . I hope you will go with family or friends so you can order more dishes to share.

My family and I always love Mala Sichuan. It is our tradition in the past few years to eat there to celebrate Chinese New Year. We had to wait for awhile to get seated, which is not a problem at all. They were so nice and polite, apologizing for long waiting time to get seated and for delay in getting our food. They stayed open late to accommodate all customers that walked late. Super greatful for their willingness to get all ppl seated and served.

Service staff was friendly and helpful. Not crowded. Plenty of parking space. Decor and design were well done. Food was above average. Portion size was average. Social distancing is practiced and food joint is very cautious and pay attention to details.

Wow! We had the hot and sour soup, the water boiled beef and the basil crispy chicken. What a combination. We drove an hour to get to Mala and it was definitely worth it. Luis was awesome. We had our 2.5 year old with us and his service was impeccable. We didn't have to ask for a thing. We cannot wait to go back. Don't forget to order the jasmine tea!
