Look- Anthony Bourdain Has eaten here—-that should tell you a lot about this place! My personal opinion is that it’s my favorite Indian restaurant in Houston right now. The owner is an expert chef and has thoroughly trained his staff to cook the food to his expectations. They literally freshly grind their spices every day to make their food. I always find it fresh, hot and comforting every time I step into this establishment. Plus, They have a beautiful wooden carving of Krishna ... the sight of it is so calming and it definitely purifies the space of the restaurant. They specialize in southern Indian food but they also have other dishes. A lot of Buddhist monks come here too because they know the vibe of the food is clean! They also have Jain dishes- so This place caters to all kinds of plant-based eaters. If you love Indian food- come here!
We just went today for lunch and what an amazing experience! Delicious meal and plenty variety. Delightful customer service. The servers here are just wonderful. We truly recommend this place.
I have been going to Udipi for years and always happy with the experience. The owner is an experienced chef who is passionate about the ingredients he uses, I often ask him about dishes and combinations and he is always happy to chat. The buffet is outstanding value and a la carte is also very reasonable. I have tried many other places in Houston, many are also excellent, and I always come back to Udipi.
By far the best medhu vaada outside of India. Other items were okay (some were too salty). The price is reasonable for the quality. Pick up took longer than expected considering the fact that the restaurant was not full. Overall, recommend the place for some authentic dishes.
