To protect and to serve, that is the purpose of the police. Hulbert police are in it for the money. I was pulled over while driving my rarely used old pickup. The truck bed was loaded with compost and during the drive compost fell on the rear bumper and partially covered my license plate. A Hulbert police officer pulled me over because he couldn't read the tag. Being a truck I rarely use, the registration was expired. Instead of a warning I received a 160.00 fine. I am from out of state and have heard similar stories from locals about Hulbert police. They will pull you over for any excuse they can find, so be sure not to give them any. They have a reputation of over policing because they have earned it.

So a cop pulls me over and tells me I didn't come to a complete stop at a stop sign, when I did and had witness with me. Only for the cop to get out of his car, introduce himself, tell me what I did "wrong" when i asked, but yet never asked for DL, insurance or registration. Yet, we have teenagers and truck drivers as well as cops that never come to a stop at any stop sign. HPD is a joke.
Very friendly, fast on catching spreaders. They will help you when you are broken down when your car won't start.
