Our family used them for a BWCA canoe trip. We rented canoes and some equipment. We also stayed in the bunk house the night before entry. We did bring our own food and tent/sleeping bags so I can not determine quality of those items, however everything else we received was in good working order and clean. No issues with any of the equipment we rented. Bunk house was clean, wish they had a single bathroom in each room. Bathroom house was okay... no door on stall so you feel a little vulnerable. It was not dirty but not the cleanest either. We only needed to use it for one night so no big deal for us. Overall I would recommend this outfitter, very helpful with maps and points of interest along route.

We really enjoyed our experience outfitting with Hungry Jack. David and Nancy are excellent hosts--knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating! Their bathroom/shower facility is incredibly clean and well maintained. Highly recommend!

I could not recommend Hungry Jack Outfitters enough. Here are a few highlights: My son and I did the Complete Outfitting Package for 4 nights / 5 days and the experience was incredible. We arrived on Wednesday night and slept in the bunkhouse. It was nice to sleep onsite so that we could start early on Thursday morning. The bunkhouse accommodations are simple but very clean and it all we needed. The gear in the Complete Outfitting Package is everything you need to excel in BWCA conditions for 5 days. As a novice BWCA'er, we would not have thought of all the items included in the gear. The gear includes 2 burners (very helpful) and 2 different types of water filtration. Dave's advice at the start of the day was perhaps the most valuable part of the experience. He helped us refine our route and gave us lots of great advice. A nice clean shower at the end of the trip was also very much appreciated. If you are looking at a Boundary Waters experience (which you should do), you should use Hungry Jack. They are the best.

Great service and gear. Staff was very helpful and very enthusiastic to provide us tips before we entered the BWCA!

Had a very similar experience to Troy, and I think it has to do with a utter lack of respect. I was taking my girlfriend on our first solo trip up to the BWCA and chose this location to pickup my permits. (the owner) was incredibly rude for asking some questions. Permit was for south lake and my GPS told me I could park there, had not been up in several years so I didn't remember if south was off of a road, got a lot of flak from him and it looked like I ruined his day by thinking my GPS might be accurate, after a rant about analog clocks he was actually super helpful telling me a route to start with. Thank you for that. When I was done with my trip I docked my canoe and went into the main cabin. I wait for him to finish up with another group of guests, that he was being polite too. I inform him in detail, that I parked my canoe on the closest dock from the rear of the cabin and if it was okay to lay my stuff there until I was driven to my starting location (a nice service). Was immediately told he had no Idea where i was talking about and would have to try and explain it better, sigh. Have some initial decency and respect when people show up to your campgrounds man, the sarcasm and condescending tone you radiate is overwhelming and I was genuinely smiling at you and being polite through it all, will for sure not be using this place again.
