Great drive along the south bank of Grand River starting at MI-11 near junction of I-196 and headed NW towards downtown. It is a one way road that will eventually let you out near junction of Market and I-196. The first portion leads to an intersection that will let you head back south under MI-11 to a boat launch picnic area. If you head straight you are in for a lovely drive especially in the fall that is bracketed by pretty woods that shimmer in a golden color in the fall afternoon. I believe these are cottonwoods and poplars. There are also several old oil derricks and abandoned oil infastructure, with some still in use. Continue along the drive to the railroad trestle bridge along the grand river. If you catch it at the correct time of early November the sunset will line up with the angle of the Grand River making for a rare downtown sunset opportunity. The bridge connects to several paths that lead to millennium park. I never found the actual mounds, but the area itself was stunningly beautiful and worth the trip.
