Unemployment is a joke! It’s been months with absolutely no follow up from the unemployment office. When you call you are on hold for hours and when someone does finally answer the phone they give you no help what so ever and tell you everyone is unemployed right now so they are backed up and I have to be patient, meanwhile I can’t pay my bills. Nothing like letting corporate America win with continued help from the government offices that are supposed to help the people!

If you're going to pay people using tax dollars, maybe have them available to answer questions. Robotic messages aren't comforting nor should I have to sit on the phone for 30 mins for a 2 min answer. No, the answer was not found online. If you work for an unemployment office, you should be versed enough in the field to answer simple questions. Not that hard.

Apparently you need to get laid off or be temporary terminated from your job due to COVID-19 to be eligible for unemployment. I’m not working at the moment and I wasn’t eligible.

Had an interview with some folks in Iowa City Workforce Center, to include the manager Brenda Dodge, and I had a very bad experience. I'm a disabled veteran and I was applying for a Promise Jobs position. Hopefully Brenda Dodge is no longer allowed to manage people, because she was very insulting and demoralizing during the interview process. After the interview she told a couple of her colleagues that I was a jerk and said some very unpleasant things about me. These coworkers then repeated to me the things that she said about me. Needless to say I wouldn't encourage any veterans, or if you are not best friends with the manager Brenda Dodge, to apply for any positions with Iowa Workforce Development!!

I had an interview with promise jobs. Can't really go in to details, for my privacy, it really didn't turn out the way I thought it was. I thought this is suppose to be a place where u could come to when u really want to better your life for u and your family. I never had this experience all while I lived in iowa city. So I can't say it was the office. Behind this I have lost a lot of sleep. I'm going to get to the bottom of this I need some help.
