One of my and the missus' go to spots in Irvine when craving for Indian food and in no mood to cook at home! True to their name, Southern Spice is very generous with the quality and quantity of spices that they use in their dishes, and rest assured that here you'll get the authentic taste and spice levels of Indian food (and not westernized, bland imitations that many other Indian restaurants are (in)famous for offering!). Our favorite dishes at Southern Spice are the Prawn Mango Curry (lip-smacking stuff!), the Gongura Biryani (though we check out a different Biryani each time to keep things interesting!), and, wait for it, the North Indian dish, Chole Bhature! I love Chole Bhatura, and I've made sure to order this awesome combo in whichever part of the world I've lived, be it in India (north, south, central, east and west), UK (Southhall FTW!), and in the US. Not having had good luck with the dish yet in the US, I decided to try my luck at this South Indian joint, and the gamble paid off - it turned out to be one of the best Chole Bhature that I've ever had! Kudos! We've always ordered pick up meals here via Uber Eats, and then conveniently and messily hogged on the neatly packed food when back in the comfort of our home! So, I don't have much advice to offer in terms of their dine-in service. But, with the pandemic on in full swing, even if they aren't offering dine in, at least make sure to give the wide array of items on their takeout menu a try till you get to experience their ambience and service. Rest assured that you shall not be disappointed!

I ordered a single curry and went to pick it up after 45 mins but they made us wait for 2 hours. Even then they had the audacity to tell me that it would take more time. The poor waitress didn't know what to do as there was no manager in the restaurant. People got impatient and the owner finally turned up only to not give a definite answer. Such a horrible experience. Never order here unless you want to spend your Friday night waiting for food.

We enjoy going out. Yesterday we arrived in this magnificent restaurant which friends recommended to us. We had a beautiful evening there with fine meal and an experienced team and an impressive chief cook. We put this restaurant in our phone list and we shall definitely come back very soon. We deeply recommend.

I celebrated my graduation this evening in this gorgeous place. I am glad to say that we enjoyed a fabulous evening and the venue was undoubtedly the reason for this happy gathering. The waiters contributed in a pleasant way, the cuisine was appetizing and my buddies were so thrilled. We shall surely return for more celebrations. Thank you very much.

The food was really good better then my expectations. The flavours were true to their origins. The spice levels were a perfect kick to what this cuisine is supposed to be. We did a pickup but decor was beautiful, would visit again once under better circumstances. A feedback though the disposables were styrofoam so bad for the environment that’s all. But do try the food out from their extensive menu.

Wow this was great. We had the Tika Biryani and Misore Banda. We are new to South Indian food and we are excited to try more new dishes.

It is a really good place to grab authentic Indian food. Their Mango Lassi is also very good. I would recommend trying out the uthappam and their starters. There is quite a uge line on the weekends so get ready for long wait times. But on the weekdays the service is really fast!
