I placed a carry out order for pepper soup. She told me 15 over the phone. My first thought was wow, 15 for one serving of soup? So I’m thinking it will be a good amount for the price. I go pick up my soup, get home, open it, & it is a bowl HALF full, and mainly full of juice with very little goat meat. The flavor was delicious I must admit, but will I order from this restaurant again? No way since they price gouge like that. Idk if it was because I am not Nigerian, but I have had delicious peeper soup and received a very generous amount for 10. I will continue to drive across town for that 10 soup over the pepper soup at African Village. I have a great Nigerian friend from West Africa teaching me to make my own anyway to avoid chasing soup. It’s not the money that matters, which is why I will waste the time and gas, it is the principle. Overcharging people and then giving them very little for the price is ridiculous.

The food here was DELICIOUS. I've lived in Cameroon and enjoyed tasting some well-made, authentic dishes that reminded me of what I ate there. I got the okra soup, fufu, and fried plantains. If you haven't had African food before, this may be different than foods you are accustomed to but I am sure there is something for everyone on their menu! It is definitely worth a try. You'll see lots of reviews from disgruntled customers who said they had to wait a long time before anyone came to greet them and take your order. Just don't be shy to go up to the counter or up to the window to the kitchen to ask for service or put in your order - that's all! It's not EXACTLY a sit down, full service restaurant. Feels like a short-staffed, family-owned place. Make yourself at home, adjust your expectations and you'll be fine.

The goat meat is always tender the flavor is authentic. The spice is perfection, I asked if they could mix a dish something they normal don’t do and got a surprise made my long day end beautifully!!! My favorite African restaurant hands down.

Definitely a fan of their portion sizes on the egusi and jollof rice. Great fresh tasting puff puff hit the spot too. Always proud to give high reviews for my people's businesses. Maybe they could work on making sure they always have prepared pounded yam but otherwise, keep it up!
