The mission of the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus is to provide a high-quality, choral music education for children of diverse backgrounds, fostering teamwork, self-discipline, accomplishment and pride while filling an important cultural need in the community and sharing the beauty of the choral art form through artistically excellent performances. In 1995, several colleagues at Jacksonville University met to discuss the possibilities of making a shared dream come true. Local conductor Jim Taylor, with guidance from University President Dr. Fran Kinne and vocal conductor Dr. Jon Carlson, drew up the framework for a Jacksonville University Children’s Chorus. The program’s first choir served sixteen children, but through word of mouth, the program grew, and in 1998 Taylor and a brand-new Board of Directors worked to incorporate into The Jacksonville Children’s Chorus. The Chorus has grown to serve approximately 450 First Coast children each year. Its performance choir program includes over 280 talented young singers ages six through eighteen. Participating children come from a diversity of racial, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds, hail from five counties in Northeast Florida and represent over 160 schools. More than 33 percent of the members receive scholarship support. Since 1995, the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus has evolved into a multi-faceted community music program providing the social and cognitive rewards of vocal music and choral participation to area children.

I watch All Elite Wrestling every Wednesday. They do a wonderful rendition of Judas by Fozzy. Would recommend.

Wow! What an amazing experience I had at the Jacksonville Children's Chorus this past year; it is truly a first class choral organization. I worked in the program office, accompanied rehearsals, and taught music classes. The work environment is fast-paced and exciting as we plan and execute performances and events, run rehearsals, and work with parents, students, and volunteers. My favorite thing about JCC are the smiles. Whether you have a preschooler in the First Steps of Music, or a high schooler in the Touring Choir, the administrative and artistic staff radiate joy, enthusiasm, and love as they guide each student in their musical journey. This same passion is also seen in the singers as they spread the joy of music to communities local, nationally, and internationally.

The Jacksonville Children’s chorus is an outstanding organization. There is no mistaking how dedicated their staff and singers are to outputting quality. The skills the children are learning are so vital and there are very few organizations that provide the kind of learning that the JCC provides. If you are the parent of a child who loves to sing, there is no better option out there for your child than the JCC.

The JCC is an incredible organization that truly stands up to their mission to provide a high- quality music education for all children. Quite unique in what they do, I have never seen so many young, talented singers in one place. The opportunities for personal growth and the experiences that are offered to these children is impeccable. I am very grateful for this wonderful place.

THE top tier choral music experience for singers of all ages! From the artistic staff to the final performance, JCC goes above and beyond to design a modern music curriculum that is fun, encouraging and as competitive as you're ready to take it. If you haven't seen them live you are missing the gem of Jacksonville. My favorite part as a parent is that they have multiple rehearsal locations throughout the city to accommodate the full family schedule. No excuses...audition today!

The Jacksonville Children's Chorus has been an exceptional opportunity for our daughter. She has become a talented and confident singer. She has traveled to Europe and even sang at the Vatican with the Papal Choir. The JCC has also helped her develop self esteem, time management, and deep personal relationships. This experience has been invaluable in her development into a successful young adult. The staff all love the children dearly and treat them as their own. I highly recommend the Jacksonville Children's Chorus for any child who loves to sing and wants to have a nurturing environment to build their singing skills.

There are many aspects that are appealing about the chorus. It was a breath of fresh air to see such highly talented children come together in harmony. A few months into the chorus, a few things were blatantly obvious. It is a major fundraising feature of the church. Aside from the steep tuition, finding a sponsor is the responsibility of each family. If a sponsor is not found, you have to pay and consider it as a donation. The volunteers and staff do not pay close attention to the children especially during Super Saturdays and concert days. My child had gone through a highly traumatizing experience during one of their concerts with no adult noticing a thing. For an organization to be around for as long as this has, I was hoping for more accountability and deep care and concern for their major fundraisers, the children. Unfortunately, this was not apparent as the weeks went by. I do hope they make a change that will create a safer haven for children who come for the simple love of music.

From my time in the JCC so far (since Fall of 2011), I've learned so much about music and the teamwork that it takes to be in a choir. The Jacksonville Children's Chorus has exposed me to various cultures, whether it be through song, or through meeting new people, going to new places, and has shown how music can bring everyone together. If you have a child who loves to sing, and you live near the Jax area, I highly recommend you look into the choir!
