My grandson was in 4th grade in a special ed class for students with Autism. We noticed he stopped getting any homework assigned and he wasn't reading. They were simply passing him on each year without teaching him to read. We withdrew him in November and started him on Lindamood-Bell program. At start he was reading at kindergarten or first grade level. Now in mid Feb he is at grade level of 2.7 to 3 with good grade 3 comprehension. We know it's not smoke and mirrors because we have him read highway signs and billboards when we're driving somewhere. Yes, it's expensive. But studies show that kids who don't read by grade 4 struggle to ever read well. This method worked well even though the staff was not sure they could help him at the start. If you can afford to take a loan out and pay it off in a year or 18 months it may be your child's only chance. Public school system needs to train some teachers in this method and do their job! In our family we have two with masters degrees, one with a PhD, and one with an associate's. 2 of the three are college professors/instructors. So we are familiar with teaching and learning techniques. THIS STUFF WORKS!!! Thank you so much to the staff!!

This place works miracles. It is very expensive, but can you put a price on the ability to read? My son is autistic, 4th grade in one of the best schools in Clay County, and was just being passed from grade to grade all while barely reading at a kindergarten level, meaning he couldn't read. After a little over 3 months at Lindamood Bell, he went 26 hours a week, he is now reading at about a 2nd grade level. The staff at this location are very caring, they nearly cried with me when I saw the much improved test scores.

I am sure this program works for some of the kids that go. Unfortunately, my son was not one of them. 9300 for 4 weeks of instruction. When my son entered the program, they did extensive testing to show where he was in relation to grade level in several different areas. I was reassured multiple times that not only would the program help him, he would be on level (or at least much closer), if only I agreed to bring him every day, for 4 hours a day, for 4 weeks. The staff was kind, and I could tell they genuinely cared about the kids. My son didn't even mind going (too much). At the end, they retested (suspiciously the EXACT same test), and according to their tests, he had improved significantly. We were excited and hopeful. Until....school started. My son had been a straight 'C' student (with some help from us and a nanny) every year before. This year, at his mid term and moving forward, he has had an \F\ in every subject except Science. He is testing on the exact same level in i-ready as before he started the program. His teachers and tutors can't tell a difference, except they report he is slightly better at spelling. When I told his Languarge Arts teacher he went to the programover the summer, and the time and cost involved, she looked at me like I had 4 heads. He has received an F on every reading and/or writing assessment in her class. He was at least making strait 'C's before the program. I seriously regret choosing this program. I feel like I wasted my summer and money. My student is no better off, and it added quite a bit of stress from a logistics point of view; my husband and I both work (how else can we afford such a program!), and had to constantly rearrange our schedules to accommodate their office hours. Buyer beware. I have a friend whose daughter greatly benefited from the program. As for me, I would not recommend.

My son can read!!! My wee man has ADHD and was diagnosed with having borderline Auditory Processing Disorder. Since he was 3 we had concerns about his ability to understand letters and numbers. He was diagnosed with having ADHD then and his psychiatrist recommended Lindamood or Orton Gillingham to help him; but we thought he will catch up in Kindergarten. Unfortunately, he did not improve in Kinder. He would read a word but if he saw the same word again in the next sentence it was like he had never seen it before. He was frustrated and we were frustrated. He started 1st grade and we got a tutor for him, hoping things will turn around. They didn't. He underwent more testing and the results were heartbreaking for my husband and I. He couldn't read and had very low short term memory, he couldn't retain what he learned. Our son is not stupid, he loves school, he loves learning; but we couldn't understand how we could help. So I attended a coffee shop meeting with representatives from Lindamood. What they told me sounded like it would fix all of my sons learning issues. My husband and I were like o way. It can't be a magic bullet for everything\, but we had no idea what else we could do to help our wee man to read. Our son is 8 and couldn't read. We held him back in 1st grade again and we started Lindamood for the recommended 12 weeks. Everyone at the centre is amazing, they genuinely care about our sons success. In less than 2 months he was reading. The first time he read something on the tv, we just stared at him in amazement. He can read books now! He is now reading at his grade level and continues to improve. Lindamood has done soooo much for my son and our family! There are not enough words to express how grateful we are to the teachers at the centre. They have restored my sons confidence and given hope to my husband and I. My son can read!!!!

I don't know how anyone could afford this a 116 an hour three to four hours a day 3 to 4 times a week for six weeks and 295 for the consultation and that's on sale no thank you. No wonder there were only 3 reviews.
