The base lodge is super nice but front gate security (mostly the civilian guards) are the worst. They forget that they’re the first person that people talk to in the morning and they take their bad mood out on people coming through the gate.

Great place, horrible food. Spent four years here (although I was drunk most of it). There was also a cute girl working in the base bank. 10/10 would visit again as long as I don't have to sign another contract.
NAS Mayport is one of my favorite bases. Great place to visit or live. Housing is great ,there is so many things to do and places to visit around here. One thing that upsets me is the ships... the ships used to be in much better shape... dont take me wrong I am not trying to say anything bad about my Navy, is just that I feel year ago... Sailors used to take more pride in regards to their ships.... My husband and I sure did. The ships are sorounded by this Beautiful Base but the ships look like they came out of a hunted movie... they are rusted and dirty. No pride and that is very disappointing and heartbreaking. I wish we could do something about it around here.
Called to speak to an HR rep around 2-2:30p and spoke to a young gentleman who was VERY aggressive and rude for no reason. He told me I'm “wasting [his] time”, then hung up. I wasn't being rude or disrespectful--all I needed was some direction. No need for the attitude.
A great little place to visit. A small sea side town with plenty of things to do and not very far from central Florida attractions.
