Wonderful cabin in a beautiful place! The cabin was perfect for our family vacation. It had everything we could of asked for and more! The river is a short drive and the Lower Gap Cafe is truly amazing food within walking distance.
We girls take a weekend off together each April and have been here for the last 3 years. We love the location and the Low Gap Cafe! This last year we were very let down tho...none of the coffee pots worked, and the lack of maintenance on the steps and outside deck were frightening. We felt like they were a serious walking hazard. Would love to go back, but we are not young women and feel the dangerous stairs will force us to look at other options for this year's trip...unfortunately...
Nice view, plenty of privacy
We stayed at the Blue Moon cabin 3/10 - 3/16. The location is excellent - between Ponca & Jasper, within walking distance of the Low Gap Cafe. There are trails nearby and it's close to everything you'll want to do in the area, but far enough away from other cabins/homes you'll feel secluded. The stars are absolutely incredible! I'm only giving it two stars because the house is in need of some serious TLC. Our first impression was bad from the moment we stepped out of the car. There was broken glass in the driveway. I was out there with a headlamp picking it up by hand because we had a dog with us. Then there was a big cardboard box leaned up against the house by the entrance. It looked like something might be living inside, not to mention trash in the yard is never a good look. It really needs a deep cleaning, and many things are broken. The toaster doesn't work, the handle on the upstairs shower is broken, the heating stove is broken, the garbage disposal is broken. There were Asian beetles all over the place, huge spiders in the basement, and mouse droppings in the kitchen cupboards - even inside the bowls on the open shelving. I cleaned enough to feel comfortable in the space for a week, and sanitized dishes with bleach, but it was pretty disappointing. It seems like a nice cabin that just isn't being maintained at all. I would not stay here again, even though we had a great time. There are plenty of other dog friendly rentals in the area that look much nicer. I wouldn't have slept in the basement or used the bathroom down there. If you're fine with pests/rodents and broken things - this is the place for you. If not, I'd strongly advise you to look elsewhere.
