This was an awesome, laid back, and extremely enjoyable Dolphin Snorkeling Tour. We went with Captain John as our driver and Chase as our guide - they were fantastic, ask which tour of the day they preside over. We went on the 10am tour. Left around 10:30 (waiting on everyone to arrive - use the link they send you upon booking for directions so you go to the correct place) and got back around 1:30. We snorkeled with Spinner Dolphins and then at a reef with many fish and large black sea urchins (watch your step). On the return trip we saw humpback whales breach. John and Chase stuck around and followed them for quite a while to let us watch and video the whales. There wasn't any pressure and it was a good atmosphere. And we saw a sea turtle as we were getting out of the boat. We'd definitely book this tour again, or any tour with this company with Chase and John. Thank you guys! 10 Stars!

We will never forget our experience on the Aloha Dolphin tour. We spotted dolphins within minutes of the excursion. 30 swimming around you on multiple occasions. Bring a waterproof camera / gopro because you will want to remember it. We had Tim and Dre as our guides and they were awesome Shared lots of knowledge about the island with tips. Very cool dudes and felt safe the whole time!

Crew knew what they were doing and were very safety conscious and knowledgeable. We were lucky to find the dolphins very quickly and were able to swim with them which was amazing. We also saw a manta ray, a sea turtle and almost saw an octopus which was a great bonus! Would recommend the tour for sure!

We went out today and it was amazing! We had Landen and Bradley as our tour guides. The tour was well planned and had plenty of snacks and water. They got us positioned onto numerous pods of dolphins and we saw an eagle ray too. Snorkeling after the dolphins was a blast too with lots of fish to see at the reef. My 5 year old daughter was a little timid of the dolphins and decided she did not want to get back in the water. Bradley and Landen made it fun for her by letting her “drive” the boat and helped her spot dolphins from topside. They gave her snacks and made sure everyone on the trip got the most out of it. Definitely recommend

We got to see many dolphins within 5 minutes of getting off our boat. You could technically see the dolphins even without leaving the boat, but we were able to swim with them too, and they were in huge numbers- around 50 of them in a pack so that was definitely an exceptional experience. The only part I wasn't wholly satisfied was that it was a pretty much DIY experience- the captain stopped the boat in the middle of the ocean, didn't provide a life jacket (did provide noodles for flotation), asked us to jump in the ocean and look for dolphins- they did provide directions. For someone who can swim just in a swimming pool, it was slightly scary not having the assurance of a life jacket nor a member of staff helping in the ocean. I'd agree with another review which points out Captain Dave's attitude wasn't the best- a lot of mocking, ridicule. Bradley on the other hand was very gentle. But overall it was definitely a great experience- got to see a lot of dolphins, and later walked from the parking lot to Honokahu National Park to see turtles next to the shore for which Bradley gave us excellent instructions.

I must preface this review with the fact that the guides who took us out were from another company (Into the Blue) which we have no idea happened, but they had us on their list and off we went. The first interaction with Dave was with his 9 week old pit bull puppy who he firmly told everyone that we cannot touch it because he just had the dog vaccinated for parvo and has lost a dog to parvo. Why is that puppy even on the tour in the first place? It was not said kindly and we found that was the way he spoke most of the tour. Someone asked what one of the sea creatures ate and his reply was, "What do you think they eat?" with a sarcastic tone. I asked what the name of the mountains were, and he corrected my Hawaiin (which I don't speak) and had a very judgmental tone. There we a lot of this type of conversation throughout the tour, including Dave sharing how he is the only one who lets his guests in the water with pilot whales and putting down other tour captains. Not an appropriate conversation. What we found more interesting is that all 3 times we got in the water with the dolphins were less exciting than what we got with every other excursion we took. The boat itself is not in any way comfortable, so get your adventure on with this one. The fruit, snacks and water were a welcome treat. The best part of the morning was jumping in the water with the pilot whales and seeing two white tip sharks as well. Dre got in the water with us with a spear which I felt was very responsible and useful. The snorkel at the end was also very nice. If I hadn't paid Groupon price for this, I would be pretty aggravated. We took tours with 3 other companies, this by far was the most disappointing. Sometime you really do get what you pay for. I know many have had great experiences with these folks, but we unfortunately did not.

We booked a private boat charter for 6 using Groupon. Tour was canceled day of tour due to “mechanical problems”. We were celebrating our 20th anniversary & wife’s parent’s 50th anniversary, and this tour was the “big” and last tour of our 7 day stay on the Big Island. Owner Chase went above & beyond to try to accommodate us with another company the next day, but time constraints interfered. He then had a friend, Leon who owns his own company, take us out on a complimentary private charter to snorkel! Chase turned what would have been a disastrous end, into a fantastic finish to our vacation on the Big Island. Not only would I highly recommend Aloha Dolphin Tours, but also Leon’s company, which I didn’t get the name of, as he was a fantastic captain. Mahalo Nui Loa!!
