I love AKKA Westport, the whole family attends karate, self-defense and tai chi classes. Wonderful place, great workouts, and very motivational. It's really helped to build self-confidence and fitness for my children. Highly recommend!

My granddaughter has been going here for 9 years and the experience has been wonderful. I believe the school offers a well balanced variety of life skills and values that extend beyond martial arts. I think that is due to the instructors within the school and the personal relationships they build with each student. When you walk through the door you will automatically feel welcome. In my opinion, there is no better school to learn martial arts at.
Strong and nurturing leaders who teach not only martial arts, but how to be a better person. This location has a particularly lively and family friendly community full of some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. I thought I was just finally getting to try out martial arts and adding an exercise routine to my life, but it has come to mean much more. They also have a really excellent trial if you've ever been interested!
I am a black belt at Akka Westport and if there's one thing that I can say it is that karate has changed my life! I started karate when I was six years old. I was a shy kid with low self esteem and a low confidence level. Over the four years I've been taking karate I have made so many forever friends and have learned to higher my self esteem and confidence level. Mrs. Nanos is the head instructor at Akka. She is the most bad@ woman that I've ever met. She will work you hard and the outcome will make you tired but you will feel amazing. There are five year olds and fifty year olds there. If karate isn't your thing there is also relaxing tai chi
I've been taking classes here for over a year, and AKKA has definitely exceeded my expectations. The instructors are strong, capable, caring women who genuinely want to help you learn and succeed. They will make you feel welcome from day one and never stop pushing you to be a better martial artist.
