I had a great trip on the M/V Misty Fjords. So relaxing, no internet, no phone, comfortable bed. Felt guilty because all I would take a long nap every day as I unwound from the hectic outside world. Captain Dale is a true historian, I cant believe all the Native Culture and Local History that is packed into his head. Yolanda the Chef was a hoot! She is a true Alaskan Character and a great cook, she always kept my belly full. Oh and apart from the Boat and Crew. The Whales, Misty Fjords, Scenery, Kayaking, Hiking, Eating, Conversation was great too. Alaska is so abundant with life and beauty. It really is nice to have the opportunity to get out and about it, while still it the lap of luxury.

There is absolutely nothing bad I can possibly say about my time on the Misty Fjord. The crew were fantastic: friendly, courteous, helpful, funny, and the things we saw were absolutely spectacular! Even after seeing whales a few times, we were able to stop and watch more when they continued to be closer. When we docked at Baranof Bay and the day on the island dawned bright and clear with a wall of fog at the mouth of the bay, we were able to stay and explore the island because everybody (crew included) agreed that a day in that gorgeous place beat going somewhere else in 1/4mile visibility just to say we did. The food was wonderful, and always prepared with a joke and a smile, and while under way, we all spent a fair amount of time in the Wheelhouse, talking with and learning from Dale and RK. We had brought books and games to do in our down time, but we didn't hardly have any and we certainly were never bored watching the various islands go by. Because the Misty Fjord is a small boat, you get to know the crew as well as all the passengers, get to stop and even go out of your way for whales if that's what you want, and get to go right up close to a glacier where the giant cruise ships aren't allowed. If a small, personalised trip is something you're looking for, you're looking at the right place. Everything is included in the up front payment-excursions, drinks, food-except the tip. A list of animals we saw (there is no guarantee of seeing any, but Dale and RK will do their best to find them if that's what you want): brown bear, orca, sea lions, seals, otters, eagles, salmon, jelly fish, humpback whales, gulls, terns, and trout
