The review for this property is rather simple. I just spent a week there with friends and family, in a cottage. First, let me say we had a good time. Most of the staff were very friendly. The pool bar staff work their tails off. The natural grounds of the private island were in good shape, but the place is in dire need of someone to walk around and fix the details. On one hand, you would see people painting wood at the main building, yet fences near the pool were filthy and broken, a clock and thermometer by the pool were broken and in bad shape. When we called and asked for bug spray because our cottage was full of mosquitos, we were told there were no mosquitos on the island. When we tried room service, it kept going to voicemail. When we called again, they said they'd call us back and didn't. So, we called the front desk and they finally got someone to call us. So, where this resort falls apart is the value for money. At the rates charged, the service should be exemplary and consistent and it isn't. The cabins should be perfect, but they are in need of update and repair. Our chair was stained and the table top was in poor shape. Our restaurant bill the first night, came with large handwriting at the top "Gratuities Not Included!" Look, at the end of the day, if this place was at least 35% less expensive, it would've been totally fine. But, if you charge 2,000 per night for a cottage, it should be perfect. As for Travel Leisure's World's Best Awards 2021, I'm afraid they missed the mark with this one. Best in the Key West area? Maybe. "World's Best"? No way. It's okay, just okay. I'm NOT saying it was horrible. The weather was great. It was pretty. And, for the record, when we brought this up to a manager, he waived the resort fee for the stay. Would I book there again? No. Would I recommend it to friends? No. But, it appears to be very booked and they're getting these rates.
