The food was good, not enough to justify the price, but still fine. Would have liked to have been offered more bread at some point during the meal. The desert crepes were not tasty at all. We left them almost completely untouched. The staff was nice and friendly and even had live music. Won't be going back, but no hard feelings about it.

I want to like them more, really I do. I have been there a couple of times with mix results. It is because they don't execute solidly that I can't highly recommend them. I have had their prime rib, and eggs Benedict and they were both good. Neither dish was outstanding, but they were both decent. The service is a little uneven. At times it is quite good, and then it can range to not there. I have had terrific service, to I wished Kingwood had more solid restaurants. The wine menu is good, and they do a nice job of selling wine by the glass. The menu has many different selections that will suit many people's tastes. At times the kitchen can have great difficulty in handling a lot of orders at one time. If you can catch them at a slower time you maybe very happy with your dinner.
The food and service is excellent!. The restaurant is decorated with many fine works of art by local artists--its like a restaurant and art gallery in one. We especially like the Sunday brunch menu. I highly recommend this place.
I figured something was wrong as there was only 6 people dinning on a Saturday night at 8:30 and we were 2 of the 6! I caught a look at the computer and we had the only reservation for the evening. I was actually asked if I had a reservation when we walked in! The service was quick and adequate but nothing like Chez Nous were you are pampered the whole way. The mango and avocado salad was very good as was my wife's lobster bisque. I ordered the ribeye, medium and it came out medium well! The pepper sauce tasted like it had come from a bottle. The potatoes and fresh veggies were OK. My wife had the jumbo shrimp with crab meat. The shrimp was so over cooked it was like eating rubber. The veggies smelled like fish, yuck! We will not return.
I love dining on the patio! The staff is attentive and I never get that "did they forget about me" feeling like I do whenever I dine outside at other restaurants. The filet rougfort is my favorite dish!
Best ambience, cuisine and service in Kingwood. Live music and special events such as monthly wine dinners, fashion shows and similar activities, make Cafe du Bois the place to go for food and entertainment
It's a darn shame to see this place closed. This was at one time possibly the finest place to eat in Kingwood.
