Great, authentic training. You don't just learn the moves, but also the history and context. Anyone interested in both martial arts and Japanese history, especially the Samurai, will enjoy this place.

Great place to learn in a way divergent to other self defense classes. This class is lead by a great instructor that coaches students to grow mentally, spiritually, and physically. In this class you will learn the what, where and why behind each new technique and movement that you learn. Each fighting style is derived from this fighting style, which was taught directly to the class instructor in Japan constructing the most authentic Budo community in Knoxville.

Michael was one of the first people who welcomed me and made me feel comfortable 9 years ago when I started training and he’s still doing it today. Visited his dojo a few months ago and was amazed at how he had grown in the art in the 5 years or so since I had saw him. His passion and knowledge of the art speak for themselves. He and his class couldn’t made me feel more welcome and because of that I’m starting training with them. Thanks so much

Michael strives to build a community and earnestly invest in his students. You will get your money's worth easily, but it will require consistency and patience to be a solid practitioner. If you put the work in, he will work with you.

If you’re looking for a dojo and instructor that still teaches the skills of the Samurai this is where you need to be
