Long drive to get to recreation area, this location is best for people who enjoy hiking after a long drive. Otherwise other than the views, there isn't anything else. *many trails to choose from once there

Even in the rain it was beautiful. We hiked the Redwood trail and since it was wet there were some slippery spots but still a great hike. We stopped near the cabin on our way back and had a delicious picnic for my birthday.

As we're not able to reach Poli Poli park due to the deep hole along the way we decided to do the waiakoa loop, located at the lower part of the reserve..in my observation its a 3.5-mile hike starting from the parking area. The hike consists of inclines and declines... This is a moderately challenging hike due to the inclined part. I recommend bringing a sweater, jacket as the weather changes in a second. Over all, not a bad hike :) for safety please follow the trial... #happyhiking

Loved this place, you will be reminded couple times that you need a 4x4 vehicle. If it's very dry you might make it in a a normal car, but if I were you I'd walk there last bit, you'll see where to stop and park

Tough ride up Jeep roads to get to the trail head, pretty if somewhat intense ride down the single track trail.

Beautiful place for a hike. Better to go early in the morning and not during rainy season. Easier to get there by a 4-drive wheelers always go with friends.Bring a jacket its very cold.

Beautiful gem, hidden on the middle slopes of Haleakala. Take a 4WD or something with high clearance, but only if the ground is dry.
