I absolutely adored my time at La Basse Cour. I was looking for a country/farm getaway, as I live in a crowded congested city. Diane and Larry showered me and my mother with tremendous hospitality - showing us around the barn and the grounds, welcoming us into their home, introducing us to all their household pets, cooking yummy breakfasts, turning down our beds, feeding a cozy fire in an antique/original cast iron stove... the list is too long to recount! While I am a highly stressful and anxious person, the three days at La Basse Cour were fully stress free, and I fully felt it both in mind and body. But that’s as a guest! Both Larry and Diane live very busy, hardworking, and fruitful lives on their farm and in their community, and the fact that they are able to dedicate so much time to their guests is a testament to their devotion to making the world a loving place. Thank you so much! I will be back! I already miss all the animals

We stayed with our three kids in the farm and had lots of fun: feeding the cows, pony, sheep, chickens, and the cats (partial list of animals in the farm), fishing, having a delicious breakfast, fetching eggs and interesting chats with the hosts.

I couldn't describe this farm in any other way other than dreamy. It's set in the just remote enough idyllic Catskill mountains in an 1800s farm house with adjacent barn filled with chickens, angora sheep, goats, ducks, cats, horses and cows all of which are rescues and are living out a blissful worry free life and or retirement. The proprietors are a lovely couple, ovo vegetarians and very community and environmentally conscious. Diane, the wife of the duo will fill your bellies with delicious farm fresh baked goods and your mind with love and hope for a brighter socially responsible future. Larry the hubby is an argronomist and uses his knowledge and patience to grow the most beautiful and delectable veggies. I plan on returning at least once a month, it is the perfect reboot for the overworked, media driven, stressed out modern existence. It's absolute bliss! Thanks Diane and Larry, see you soon!
