Easy access. Available and ample parking, bikes rack. Plenty restaurants, cafes and shopping around. Safe , clean .
As a paperboy from 1961-1965, my paper route company was the LaGrange News Agency. Their HQ was directly across from the train station and when I was a wee bit older, I would explore Chicago by grabbing a commuter train here and heading downtown. It was also from here that I would ride the Burlington to Maxwell Street and its street markets and hustlers. There I also discovered the most amazing place to hear live, authentic Blues music, Alice's Revisited. I saw Willie Dixon, Coco Taylor, and Shaky Walter Horton there one night, an amazing show. As other reviewers have noted, living near this train is one of LaGrange's most endearing qualities. Why live in the city if you have such a fine commuter train system at your footsteps and can live in a beautiful, friendly town like LaGrange? Well, I'm back on Sept.21.2018, for my 50th high school reunion at LTHS, and though the news agency is long gone, LaGrange Road station is beautifully intact and smart as ever. Man I miss riding those rails into Chicago....
Excellent place for railfanning. Both BNSF and Metra pass by so train watching is excellent. Plenty of space to view trains safely. Station was not open on Sat or Sun but plenty of trains to watch.
Considering its location (still on the edge of cramped near-suburbia), this station is quite nice. Plenty of parking nearby for one-off Metra trips and daily commutes. The station itself is large and warm in the winter. Nice long platform in good condition on both sides. A variety of top-quality shops and restaurants - and lots of them - nearby.
