I honestly really like this Dr. She always listened to me and hears what I am saying. I have Hashimoto's and she has been open to trying different things to get me to my optimal thyroid help. She is knowledgeable and if she does not know the answer, she will find it for you. I see there are some negative reviews for her, but if you look other places for reviews, you will see more of what I have experienced with her. Hope this helps someone.

Contrary to other reviewers, I have had a perfectly fine experience here seeing Julia Kelly. I have found her to be pleasant and thorough. (This has been for standard type 1 diabetes management, not for anything out of the ordinary).
Waste of time to come here for endocrinology. Went in for thyroid problems, wanting to talk about alternative treatments and address side effects that I am having from taking Levothyroxine (I'm exhausted and falling asleep everywhere including trying not to while driving, I either cant get warm and stop shaking or have horrible hot flashes ect.). Ended up being told that it more than likely that all of my problems are coming from depression since I have a history of depression (fun fact your thyroid can cause depression), was offered no alternatives only supplemental medication to what I am currently taking, was blown off about alternatives that I brought up and told I should talk to mental health care professionals, did not address my concerns but rather blew them off. Ended up leaving and asking for them to do blood work.
This review is on Julia Kelley, ARNP: I thought I was alone in having communication issues with Julia Kelley, ARNP. Then I read the Google reviews for Providence Endocrinology - Olympia which is only 2.7 stars. Julia Kelley was mentioned more than once as having terrible communication, follow through and quality of care by her patients. I have also experienced all of those things as well as her obvious inability to admit the mistakes she has made. Her lack of concern for my wellbeing was demonstrated by her continued lack of response to pertinent health questions I sent her by direct email on MyChart. The few times she did respond, she either gave answers that were non-answers or what turned out to be wrong answers. I tried to contact the other specialist on staff, Dr. Anam Akmal, MD for help but due to the way MyChart is set up, I could not email anyone else from Providence Endocrinology. When I called to speak to her directly, I was told by office staff they did not have phone numbers for any of the specialists. Dr. Anam Akmal, MD is well insulated from contact unless you have actually seen her as your doctor. After demanding Julia Kelley authorize an appointment with Dr. Akmal, I was finally able to speak to her to actually get the technical answers I needed and could not get from Julia Kelley to determine the next course of action to diagnose my condition. I chose to move away from Providence Endocrinology and on to a surgeon. For me, Julia Kelley, ARNP is not the right provider to work with if you are trying to diagnose thyroid cancer. She either can’t or won’t communicate in a supportive or timely manner. Turns out I did have thyroid cancer that would not have been diagnosed by the method Providence Endocrinology was recommending, and had I not persisted and demanded to see Dr. Akmal, and ultimately a surgeon, I may not have had it removed in a timely manner.
Terrible communication, follow through, and quality of care by Julia Kelley, NP and staff. Providence executives should be more plugged into this particular department. It needs direction, quality control, and accountability to meet basic standards of care. Will not be going back. Also: Julia Kelley was suppose to have ordered a thyroid ultrasound when I informed her in writing on mychart of a lump in my throat and was told it would take 10 to 14 days to get scheduled and here it is 2 months later with not one phone call or follow up from Julia Kelley or her staff. Good thing I followed up with my primary Dr. who actually is concerned about their patients well being. I had an ultrasound done in the same week by my primary care Dr. and had results in 48 hours. If you have thyroid issues, I would avoid this particular provider if you care about your well being.
