Great trails. A lot of elevation. Make sure you have essentials like a ton of water, a hat, and sunscreen unlike I did! 15 for parking for the day. These can be very long trails. Plan accordingly! Watch out for snakes.

This place has a great variety of hikes to choose from, anywhere from really challenging to a nice stroll. Dirt paths are very easy to follow and there are signs and/or maps at every junction so you won't get lost. There's is also beach access from the state park through a tunnel. I would give it 5 stars but parking costs 15 for the day (until 8pm) which I think is a bit steep. Make sure you pay for parking because they do check and you can get a ticket. There's a machine to pay for the parking. You'll need to enter your license plate number and how many days you're planning on staying (for those people who go camping). The machine takes credit cards and cash. There's also an app called Passport you could use to pay for parking as well. There are bathrooms but they're not in the best condition. Also, parking is pretty limited so I would get there earlier rather than later. Good news is there's a constant flow of people finishing their hike so if you're patient you'll secure a spot eventually. I recommend bringing your mask, parts of the trail can get pretty crowded, especially by the beach access path.

One of the best trails out there. My favorite since 1991

Super pretty, but if it’s a nice weekend, don’t even try going after 9am. I drove around the various parking areas for over 30 minutes and ended up having to leave because there was no parking.

There are much more amazing hikes around LA. Many with waterfalls, and beautiful Scenic views. It's certainly beautiful, but I'd recommend many others before this destination. Like Echo Mountain, or Sturtevant Falls Hiking Trailhead.
