In November we hiked from Cheshire Harbor Trailhead (blue trail) to the War memorial Tower. After 10 minutes of walking up you will a find two blue arrows and no other signs. It was our first time there so we decided to go straight. If you go straight it will take you to a beautiful stream. It probably took us 1.5 hr to complete it. It took us more time bc we were taking lots of pictures. At first we thought it was raining so we stopped for a moment but then we realized it was hail. We went up hill again to the now take the other way up to the summit. We probably started the hike to the summit @12pm the hike was difficult because of the rocks and weather condition. The days before it had rained and the whole road was very muddy. We got back the the parking lot at 5pm. Challenging but SO worth it !!!

This is the tallest mountain in Massachusetts and it is absolutely worth the trip to see the views. The facilities at the top of the mountain are currently shut down due to the pandemic, but you can still drive up to the top of the mountain. It's much less crowded at this time. I went to the mountain to hike it early on a Sunday morning. I thoroughly enjoyed my hike from the bottom. I live in the Worcester MA area, and I've taken weekend vacations to stay out in the berkshire area, it's very beautiful. I will definitely be visiting again and hiking up the mountain via another trail. The beauty of this mountain is that there isn't just one view, there are many throughout on the different trails as well as at the summit.
Great hike and connected to the Appalachian Trail. Vietnam war Memorial and restaurant at the summit. great view from top.
There are many, many beautiful trails and all levels. I am 76 and have had open heart surgery and I was able to enjoy the ones that were rated easy and moderate. I love the mountain. The air is really clean and parking areas are very good.
Scenery was beautiful and there was a variety of trails ranging from easy to aggressive. We had two 7 yo and a 4 yo and did the Rounds Rock trail, drove to the top and had a picnic. Bascomb Lodge was at the top and is currently open Thursday thru Sunday. They had regular bathrooms in the lodge as well as a small cafe with made to order sandwiches, soups, coffee, tea and pastries. Cell service is spotty in the park so download your maps beforehand.
