Past experiences were nothing less than perfect (which is why I'm giving 3 stars vice 1), but the no show this past weekend, after I confirmed the morning of, was disappointing. It was a furniture pickup, which required me to stage the furniture in front of my garage and cover it with plastic due to the rain. All for nothing because of the no show. Great cause and one of the few charities that accept and pick up furniture, but you may want to be flexible due to possible no shows. Plan accordingly.

Weeks ago I scheduled a pick up with your organization to take place August 8th. Because I support your cause I chose to keep my bags and bags and several containers of upscale clothing - Ralph Lauren, Under Armour and new homegoods and barely used electronics, lamps, books, frames,MANY things still in packaging.. misc....in my way in my garage, parking my car OUTSIDE...FOR WEEKS... WAITING ON YOU....On the morning of the day you were supposed to arrive I CALLED TO CONFIRM THAT YOU WERE COMING AND I WAS ON THE DOCKET FOR AUGUST 8TH A SATURDAY. Because it was rainy I kept all of your donations safely in the opening of my garage and stayed home all day waiting for you and YOU NEVER SHOWED UP!!!

AMVETS is for a great cause but I will not be donating to them again. Multiple missed confirmed pickups and no or very slow respones when I reached out for assistance. One time I had furniture scheduled for pickup and it took them multiple days past the agreed pickup time before they decided to show up. This resulted in me having to move everything back inside because it rained the day after they missed the pickup, and still didn't come until the following day. That was 2018. 2019 I scheduled a pickup and they didn't show or reach out. I tried to contact them with no response and of course, it rained the following day they missed the appointment. Then they never came or replied. I understand things happen, but they appear to be very disorganized in the pickup department in the Lanham/Bowie, MD area. Wont happen again.

Went online an scheduled a pick up. Someone called and confirmed the time and date. I placed all the items in a bag on my patio, labeled AMVETS. Around 10:00 PM that evening, my husband brought the things back into the house. This happened on two separate occasions. Besides, they sell the items in their store 'Value Village'. Our military veterans are awarded vouchers to purchase through their store. If, for say, their voucher is not that much, they too must buy their items. Would love to hear your thoughts on veterans buying from a non-profit that is designed in their honor.
