This place is WAY underrated. most of the ratings here are from angry family not getting information* and not actual patients. as someone who has been there twice, i can gurantee you one thing. They Will Stabilize You. If you want trauma treatment get a referral to the new orleans institute. The point of acute care facilities is to make sure you dont want to die and keeping you safe until you show stability. I've been here twice, and the first thing i noticed was the food. it was actually amazing. The techs were super awesome and friendly, I would trust them with my life. They would let us go outside for groups very often. This hospital is relatively relaxed in the mood disorders unit. It was pretty boring most of the time but there's never a dull moment with the friends you can make there. Technically youre not supposed to make friends but when you all came for basically the same reason it's very easy to bond. I bonded with people over shared hobbies as well as timekillers while we waited between therapy groups and meals. The treatment team messed up my medicine once because i had undiagnosed bipolar disorder. the second time around i was started on a medication that worked better. DO NOT LIE to your team!!! they are not as perceptive as you think they are. and they are not mind readers. talk to them! my only complaint is that the team should put some more thought and effort into their diagnoses as well as more therapy. in short, food was great, techs were great, waiting between groups was pretty boring. sometimes staff makes mistakes, but they're only human. *for those people wanting to talk to their family, find out the patient's ID number from the patient or wait for them to contact you. the hospital legally cannot give you information if you dont have their number. it's not allowed under HIPAA.

Everyone there was very friendly and helpful with the exception of one doctor, but other than that everything else went well. They definitely helped me in taking the steps to get better. I definitely recommend this place!!!!!

My mother went into this hospital out of her mind, and she came home today; Well. She was cognitive and told me how the staff took such great care of her. She said the meals were incredible and how she enjoyed the many activities. She has been in many Behavioral Facilities over the years, and this is the first one that ever kept us updated via phone and email. Mental Illness is real and I’m grateful and thankful for how you helped my Mom.

My grandmother was moving around, able to talk, just depressed after my mother died, and when she wasn’t feeling well went to the hospital, where she told the doctor she didn’t want to live without her daughter anymore, to just let her die. They sent her here, and after three days, I was able to pick her up. She was completely immobile, unable to speak, and died less than 48 hours after being there. She was not dressed in the clothes I sent, dressed in a paper gown, drooling, she had not eaten, could not lift her head. I have no more family. To the staff members, where can people put this hurt when you’re not held accountable?

I have been to about 10 of these places in the New Orleans area in the past several years with my girl and for you critics l can say that this one is the lesser of the evils. It was clean and l was greeted respectfully. The person bringing us to the visitation room seemed ok. Now the patient had complaints but what can you expect from a continuously relapsing alcoholic and drug attic who always needs to get her way? The one thing about all these places is don't spend enough time with the patients
