Update: Finch responded very politely to my review and I admire them for engaging and addressing some of my comments. I’ll definitely keep Finch in mind when looking for specific yarns! I should start my review by saying that I am not a seamstress, but a knitter. I cannot comment on the sewing part of this store, but it seems to be varied, and they have beautiful fabrics on display. For the knitting part of the store, the positives are: friendly, solicitous service, a nice library of knitting patterns, beautiful Quince & Co yarns and some local yarns, and a selection of lovely notions. The space is beautifully set up and is very comfortable for sitting and browsing. The negatives are that the selection is small. There were few machine washable wool options, and the prices are high. I have yet to buy some yarn here, simply because I haven’t found what I need for my patterns. As a knitter, this store is disappointing. However, as someone who is interested in learning to sew, I would definitely come here for my materials and lessons!

Worst online shopping experience I’ve ever had. They don’t have good communication and had to get a refund through PayPal. I never post reviews for anything but that’s how bad this experience was.

Just got back from a 3-day retreat with Finch and Katie Kortman in the Shenandoah. I met a wonderful group of creative women in a gloriously shabby chic mansion to paint fabric, sew garments, and make fun & fancy crowns. The facilities and instruction were terrific, the food yummy, and the laughter in full force. I felt lucky to be there. The owner of Finch, her staff, and Katie went above & beyond, and I went home a very happy girl (with a great dress & new crown!)

On the phone with Sam and he is HORRIBLE, asked him quite a few times to speak to his supervisor or manager and some girl got on the phone. She wasn't much help either. THEN ASKED IF I CAN HAVE AN E-MAIL ADDRESS TO WRITE TO THE OWNER. SHE SAID SHE'S THE OWNER & IF THAT'S HOW SHE TREATS PEOPLE I'LL GO ELSEWHERE. A few weeks ago I ordered organic cotton fabric from them, received e-mails, saying they got the order, the order was shipped and delivered. ONLY TO FIND THAT THE FABRIC THAT THEY SAID WAS SHIPPED WAS NOT. NEVER RECEIVED AN E-MAIL SAYING IT WAS OUT OF STOCK or TO ASK IF I WANTED TO ORDER A REPLACEMENT. THEY GO THROUGH ETSY. ETSY IS HORRIBLE & WILL NEVER ORDER WITH FINCH & SEW AGAIN. DON'T RECOMMEND THIS STORE.

I had a great experience at Finch. One great thing was that all the people there were very nice. If your a crafty person, then I suggest you come to finch!
